Members of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce:

We hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. We have a great deal to be thankful for here in San Angelo. Our local economy continues to navigate the effects COVID-19 and we encourage everyone to shop and dine locally for the holidays. By pulling together and by supporting our local businesses we will continue to succeed.

At the Chamber we are committed to supporting the development and maintenance of a strong and skilled local workforce. To that end, in our last Board meeting, the Chamber Board of Directors approved the donation of funds to 3 targeted work force development efforts.

The first grant will support the launch of a new program, SME Prime. This program will provide training in advanced manufacturing at the high school level. The second grant will be used to procure training equipment for the growing medical vocational training programs at Howard College. The third grant will help the Angelo State University Small Business Development Center (ASU-SBDC) deliver business management training to our entrepreneurial community.  The total value of these grants is more than thirty thousand dollars. Your continued support makes these grants possible and I cannot thank you enough for your continued support!

We are sad to report one of our very own volunteers, Mr. Gary Flage, passed away this week. Gary was a strong supporter of our community and volunteered routinely at the San Angelo Visitor Center along with his wife, Marilyn. Our thoughts and prayers are with Marilyn and their family. Gary will be missed greatly.

We have our final Business @ Happy Hour on December 8 at 5 pm at 4276 Dan Hanks Lane. A big thank you to Aermotor Windmill Company for hosting our final B@HH of 2020. We are also grateful to Glazer’s Beer and Beverage for sponsoring this event. Our usual health and safety protocols will be followed for this and every Chamber event for the foreseeable future.

As always, we ask that you take a moment to like and follow us on Facebook and other social media platforms if you have not already done so. We also ask you to check out our website, www.sanangelo.org for new information, as we are continually providing updates. I have included my email and personal cell phone number below. Please feel free to contact me anytime.

Stay safe and keep well. We deeply appreciate you all.
