Business Mentor Program

Purpose:  Developed by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce's Diversity Committee, the Business Mentor Program is intended to provide an opportunity for businesses to establish a relationship with more experienced business owners to seek advice and support.

Mentor

Mentor Terms:

  • Agree to meet with mentee at least once a month to mentor, advise and educate
  • Commit to 6 months of mentoring
  • Examples of ways to meet with the mentee could be to attend a Membership Luncheon together, attend the Diversity Awards Luncheons, show them how to network at a Business @ Happy Hour and/or hold one-on-one meetings with the mentee

Mentor Benefits:

  • Mentor Business receives recognition on the Chamber Website
  • Mentor Business receives recognition in the Chamber newsletter
  • Mentor Business receives recognition at Membership Luncheons

 

Questions for Mentor:

  1. What type of business do you have?
  2. What type of business or businesses are you comfortable in mentoring? (Note: You may include types of businesses that are not similar to your own.)
  3. What are your strengths as a business owner?
  4. What surprised you as a business owner when starting up?
  5. How often are you willing to meet with a mentee?
  6. Would you be willing to be a mentor?

Mentee

 

Mentee Terms:

  • Agree to regular meetings with the mentor
  • Commit to 6 months of being a mentee
  • Examples of ways to meet with the mentee could be to attend a Membership Luncheon together, attend the Diversity Awards Luncheons, show them how to network at a Business @ Happy Hour and/or hold one-on-one meetings with the mentee

Mentee Benefits:

  • Mentee Business has access to an experienced business owner
  • Mentee Business receives recognition in the Chamber newsletter
  • Mentee Business receives recognition on the Chamber website

Questions for Mentee:

  1. What type of business do you have?
  2. What areas of your business would you like to have greater insight? These could include, but not limited to, advertising, financial budgeting/accounting, planning for growth.
  3. What are your strengths as a business owner?
  4. What surprised you as a business owner when starting up?
  5. How often are you willing to meet with a mentor?
  6. Would you be willing to be mentored?
