Labor Training

Howard College

While the main campus is in Big Spring, TX; the student enrollment is 1,200 in San Angelo. Instruction at this campus is concentrated primarily in technical/occupation fields of study that lead to Certification and/or Associate of Applied Science Degrees. Certificates or degrees are offered in Business, Computer-Aided Drafting, Computer Science, Emerging Medical Technology, Health Information Technology, Industrial Production Technology, and other fields. Texas State Technical College

TSTC is a State vocational training center located 75 miles north of San Angelo in Sweetwater, TX. Like Howard College, TSTC offers Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degrees and Certificates of Completion. Some of the courses offered in Sweetwater include: Applied Engineering Technology-Automation/Robotics, Computer Information Technology-Computer Business Systems or Software Management, Computer Network Systems & Administration, and Diesel Technology. American Commercial College

ACC is a private educational institution providing 750- to 1440-hour programs leading to Diploma programs and Associate certificates. Approximately 600 students are trained each year at American Commercial College. Some of the courses offered include: Computer & Electronics Technician, Medical Records Transcriptionist, Data Entry Specialist, Advanced Business Computers and Computerized Accounting Specialist. West Texas Training Center

WTTC is a comprehensive regional training center with the primary mission of supporting and enhancing regional economic development via workforce training. This unique center is a joint project of Angelo State University, Howard College, and the San Angelo Public School. The 100,000 square foot facility is available for occupational and specialized training programs for regional businesses. The center has a 7,400 square foot “rapid response” room for local companies needing space on a short-term basis for training or for new companies that need to have pre-employment training while they are building or remodeling a new business location in San Angelo. Howard College and the San Angelo Public School systems are the primary providers of training. Since opening in 2001, WTTC has served over 12,000 individuals. Angelo State University

ASU does not provide vocational or technical training, but they do have a Continuing Education program. Angelo State is a 6,300 student University offering Baccalaureate and Masters Programs. Complete information may be obtained by calling ASU at 325-942-2041. Their Web Site is: www.angelo.edu.
