Welcome to San Angelo, the heart of Texas farm and ranch country.
Our farm and ranch tours feature every type of farming, ranching
and hunting usage (with the exception of rice and citrus) found
in Texas. In a radius of 35 miles, a tour can feature cotton,
sorghum, wheat, cattle, sheep, mohair, pecans and sesame seed.
Customized itineraries are available. Marketing and production
areas also offer tour possibilities including the largest cattle
and sheep auction in the Southwest, a feed yard, cotton gins and
meat packing facilities.
Producers Livestock Auction
Within the city limits
Aside from being the largest sheep auction in the United States,
Producers Livestock Auction Co. is also the largest cattle auction
in the Southwest. The auction barn is in operation at 1131 N.
Bell St. Sheep auctions are held every Tuesday, and cattle auctions

San Angelo Feed Yard
15 minutes northeast on Hwy 67
San Angelo Feed Yard is a feedlot specializing in the feeding of cattle and lambs for the commercial market. The feed yard has a feeder capacity of 14,000 cattle and 10,000 lambs. You will see how the animals are received, processed, cared for and fed. Up to 300,000 pounds of feed is produced and fed daily to the livestock.
Lazy A HIDE-A-WAY
45 minutes north on Hwy 87
Experience the beauty and a tranquil setting of the Lazy A. Relax and enjoy a starlit night by a campfire, view wildlife in their natural habitat or listen to flowing water fall while sitting around the swimming pool. For a more active lifestyle, tennis, basketball, horseshoe, washer pitching and croquet is at your disposal.
Rocking Chair Ranch
30 minutes south on Hwy 277 South
The Rocking Chair Ranch and brand have been a part of Texas history since the early 1850's. As you drive through the front gate of this 10,000-acre ranch, you are experiencing a West Texas legend. You will see the seven spring-fed lakes, the spacious auction barn and prize-winning cattle. The famed Lipan Springs on the ranch served as the watering hole for the Butterfield Stage and the San Angelo and El Paso mail route. Meals may be catered for your group.
Aeromotor Windmill Corporation
Within the city limits
See machinery in action as the parts of windmills are being made. Aeromotor has been in business since 1888 and manufactures 90% of the windmills in the United States. Used primarily for watering livestock and farm irrigation, the windmill has also been purchased for circulating water in swimming pools & decorative landscaping. You will enjoy an informative tour about the rebirth of the symbol of our agricultural heritage.
Paint Rock Excursions
45 minutes east on Hwy 83
The Campbell's Ranch at Paint Rock is not only a working sheep ranch, but the site of historic Indian pictographs dating back 1,000 years. Your tour includes a visit to the natural museum of painted cliffs to view hundreds of ancient paintings along a limestone bluff just north of the Concho River. The paintings are easily seen from the path some 50 feet below.
Angelo State University Management Instruction & Research Center
15 minutes north on Hwy 87 Adjacent to the A&M Research Center
The ASU Research Center has over 5,000 acres dedicated to the West Texas farming and ranching. One of the staff professors will show your group innovative methods for brush control, grazing and wildlife management, as well as cattle, sheep, Angora goats, and wildlife areas. A meal may be catered and served in the large auction barn.
Texas A&M University Agricultural Research & Extension Center
15 minutes north on Hwy 87
The Center is dedicated to the latest technology in crop, range and animal husbandry management. Visitors will be welcomed in the auditorium by the Center's staff. A tour may include everything from a demonstration of Angora goat shearing to the entire processing of the mohair. Meals may be catered.

Western Events
Stock Show & PRCA Rodeo
Held annually in February, this event attracts some of today's top rodeo cowboys. Rodeo week also features such events as a registered Quarter Horse Show and Cutting Horse Show and Cutting Horse Competition, livestock show and premium sale, rodeo parade, commercial exhibitors, arts & crafts competitions, displays and a carnival.
Fort Concho Frontier Day
A reflection on life in San Angelo during the 1880's. Early-day ranch demonstrations, exhibitions, wagon rides and an 1880's-style baseball game. Held 3rd Saturday in June.
Summer Spectacular Livestock Show
A traditional livestock show, and riding exhibits usually held in late July.
National Cowboy Day Festival
Cowboys at the Cactus, Cowboy events, arts & crafts at Fort Concho, Dutch Oven Cooking, Cowboy poetry, music & more. Cattle Drive, Cook off and more at San Angelo State Park. Held 3rd weekend in July.

Roping Fiesta
Each year, the Roping Fiesta attracts some of the top ropers in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. Held the first weekend in November, this two-day event also features a matched calf roping between two well-known roping professionals.
