The Great Outdoors
Birding
San Angelo is a wonderful place for birding. It has varied habitat with farmland, ranch land, lakes, streams and hills. Its location is far enough south to pick up many species usually associated with Mexico. Also, as the region lies near the 100th meridian, it has both western and eastern species. According to the Concho Valley Bird List, there are 356 species of birds that have been confirmed since 1980 in this area. Anyone interested in birds of this region can contact Delbert Tarter at 325-949-1622, Ross Dawkins at 325-942-2064 or Dan and Jo Ann Brown (Hummer House) 325-255-2254 for a checklist at no charge.
For additional information please visit San Angelo Birding.
No indication of habitat, time of year, or probability of finding a particular species is given. Good luck on some of the species, and good birding.
