- Sunken Garden (Avenue D and Abe Street - U.S. 87 South): Cannas of about 40 cultivars occupy this large garden as well as annuals, perennials and bulbous material of many kinds in season.
- Rio Concho Garden (Rio Concho Drive across from Rio Concho Manor): Both native and cultivated plants of many kinds. Vines, annuals, perennials, bulbous material, selected shrubs, mesquite trees, a few roses and other plants, with something blooming about 10 months of the year.
- Terrace Garden (Rio Concho Drive): Ground covers, bulbous material, annuals, perennials, small shrubs and some native material offer changing areas of texture, color, form and bloom throughout the year.
- James M. Rogers Gazebo Garden (Rio Concho Drive across from
the San Angelo Convention Center): A gazebo in the center of
this garden has become a popular wedding site. All kinds of
flowering plants yield a beautiful succession of blooms for

Paint Rock Excursions
A visit to the Pictographs of Painted Rocks, approximately 32 miles southeast of San Angelo, is much more than just a tour. Central West Texas is fortunate to have such a "museum, library and art gallery," all decorated by American Indians who roamed our area long before Europeans arrived. It is one of the largest Indian Pictograph sites in the nation. There are more than 1,600 ancient paintings visible along a limestone bluff just north of the Concho River. The artwork is easily viewed from a path some 50 feet below. No climbing is necessary to view the ancient artwork. Visitors can drive to the base of the bluff, and then follow the foot trails. Admission charged. Call 325-732-4376 or 325-732-4418 for tour reservations.
