Utilities

Water Service

San Angelo’s water supply is owned and operated by the City of San Angelo. Several lakes are the sources of San Angelo’s water. As of October 2006, San Angelo’s maximum capacity of the water system is 55 million gallons/day. The average daily use is 14 million, with the highest recorded usage of 25 million gallons/day.

Sanitary Sewer

The City of San Angelo has an activated sludge wastewater treatment facility. The wastewater treatment capacity is 13.2 million gallons/day. The current treatment is 9.21 million gallons/day, and the highest peak treatment was 13 million gallons/day.

Refuse Service

Refuse collection is provided by a private contractor who utilizes the City- owned landfill. The contractor is TrashAway Services, Inc. The cost of residential service is $8.95/month for twice weekly service. Base rates for commercial business customers are:

Natural Gas

Natural gas service is provided by Atmos Energy. San Angelo is served by multiple high pressure (350 psi) lines with the city plant pressure maintained at 55 psi maximum allowable operating pressure. Industrial transportation service is available, and other programs exist to assist with potential developments.

Electricity

Electrical line service is provided by AEP-Texas. San Angelo is currently served with 13 transmission lines - 69,000 volts (4) 138,000 volts (6), 346,000 volts (1). Telecommunications

Verizon is the region’s principal provider of local telephone service and operates a 100 percent digital network. In addition to Verizon’s long-distance service, other long distance service providers with POPs in San Angelo include AT&T, MCI, Sprint, Quest, Cable & Wireless, CTTC, and SBC. In addition to standard copper and fiber-based services that provide a range of voice, video and data services, San Angelo residential and business customers can also obtain digital subscriber line (DSL) service, high-speed cable modem service, LMDS, wireless DSL, and digital satellite service.
